Dr. Ellen Lockhart is an obstetric anesthesiologist who has spent many years caring for women with high-risk pregnancies.  Her research focused on sleep disorders in pregnancy and treatment interventions and their impact on adverse maternal and fetal outcomes. Dr. Lockhart earned a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College and a medical degree from the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School. After completing an anesthesiology residency at Barnes Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis, she completed a fellowship in obstetric anesthesiology at Duke University. She is an elected member of the Association of University Anesthesiologists. Prior to her career in academic leadership recruitment, Dr. Lockhart served in progressive leadership roles at Vanderbilt University and most recently at Washington University in St. Louis where she served as Professor and Vice-Chair in the Department of Anesthesiology.
