Sweeney Todd

HALO presents Stephen Sondheim’s musical thriller Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street on Sullivan’s Island at Battery Gadsden Cultural Center. Utilizing the spectacular architecture of the historic Battery, Sweeney Todd is the story of vengeance and obsession of a man unjustly imprisoned who returns to society with a thirst for revenge. Sondheim’s intricate and haunting score masterfully blends dark humor, powerful drama, and memorable melodies.

The venue will open to the audience at 6:30pm, and the performance begins at 7:30pm.

Sweeney Todd runs 2 hours and 45 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission. The performance concludes at approximately 10:15pm.

Free parking is available at Battery Thompson, Sullivan’s Island Elementary School, on side streets, as posted, and in public parking areas across Sullivan’s Island. Please do NOT park at the Post Office!

Yes! There is designated seating, ADA-compliant bathrooms, and a designated drop-off area for those with limited mobility.

We think so! It is our belief at HALO that live theatre is for everyone.

No! Although presented at an outdoor venue, HALO has transformed the Battery into a theatrical setting, complete with stadium seating and chairs!

Whereas furry friends are a big part of HALO, please leave them at home for Sweeney Todd.

No food this time around, but we’re always up for beverages! Please visit our beverage stations to purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks before the show and during intermission. You are welcome to take them to your seats, too!
